Success for the Anti-Fraud team as they celebrate another year of safeguarding taxpayers money


To mark the start of International Fraud Awareness week, Hertfordshire Shared Anti-Fraud Service have shared their successes over the last 12 months.


The Shared Anti-Fraud Service are there to investigates acts of, or attempts to commit fraud against the county council, Hertfordshire’s district and borough councils as well as neighbouring local authorities. Over the last 12 months, the Shared Anti-Fraud team has:

  • Undertaken over 250 investigations

  • Recovered £1.9 million following investigations into suspected Council Tax fraud

  • Recovered 31 houses Following investigations into social housing fraud

  • Detected Over 100 instances of Blue Badge fraud

  • Identified 20 instances of fraud in education, including school admissions

  • Over 20 investigations were carried out in relation to social care payments resulting in at least £700,000 of fraud being identified.
