Day 4 - TFF International Fraud Awareness Week Campaign

ree

Every home counts, fight tenancy fraud

Over 1,000 social homes are illegally advertised online each year, costing the public £20 million annually. Across the UK, recovered homes save taxpayers an average of £42,000 each—but we can only achieve this through collaboration and awareness.

The Tenancy Fraud Forum offers a range of resources to help housing professionals and local authorities tackle fraud effectively:

✅ Training sessions for investigators, housing officers and legal teams

✅ Community programme partnerships that strengthen local engagement

Downloadable materials including flyers, reports and guidance documents

✅ Case studies that show the real-world impact of fraud detection.

🔍 Case Study: Right to Buy Fraud - A council tenant was sentenced after fraudulently attempting to purchase a property under the Right to Buy scheme—twice—claiming discounts of over £78,000 each time. Read the case study

Let’s work together to protect homes, support communities and reduce the cost of fraud.
