Day 5 - TFF International Fraud Awareness Week Campaign

ree

Working together to protect homes and communities, collaboration is our strongest defence against tenancy fraud

Before fraud prevention:

  • Homes unlawfully occupied

  • Families left waiting

  • Public money wasted

After fraud prevention:

  • £42,000 saved nationally per fraud detected

  • Hundreds of homes reclaimed each year across the UK

  • Families in genuine need rehoused faster

These outcomes are only possible through strong collaboration between:

  • Local authorities sharing intelligence and resources

  • Housing associations conducting joint investigations

  • Community groups raising awareness and reporting concerns

  • National bodies offering training, data tools and legal guidance

🔍 Case Study: Successful Collaboration - Through a targeted crackdown on tenancy fraud, Wolverhampton Council saved taxpayers £2.9 million and recovered 74 properties. The success was driven by cross-team working, data sharing, and proactive engagement with residents.

Thank you for your commitment to fighting tenancy fraud. Together, we can protect homes and restore fairness.
